Great Tumbler

Review Date: April 21, 2003
Reviewer: Empyreal, LA, CA
I, like many college kids, cannot survive without caffeine of some sort. This tumbler does a great job of insuring that I have hot coffee until I'm done drinking it. Everybody else has commented on its great insulation abilities, but I'd like to add my own experience. I like to have my coffee slightly hot, but not tongue-burning hot. So I always add a couple of ice cubes. Well, I got my coffee to the perfect temperature at 7:30 this morning and headed off to class. I sipped on it all during class and work, and the temperature stayed perfect. When I finished my coffee at 12:30 this afternoon, it was STILL the perfect temperature. Absolutely fabulous.

As for the other features: The outside of the tumbler stays cool to the touch, and the rubber bottom keeps it from slipping around. However, because of it's design, it could tip over if you knock against it. So don't plan on putting this on your dashboard or floorboard of your car or anything like that. It is the perfect width at the bottom to fit into most cupholders. The rubber around the middle of the tumblers makes for an easy non-slip grip, and the top screws on easily and tightly. My only complaint is that the snap top for the sipper hole does not "snap." It just kind of closes, but it isn't securely closed. So, don't go putting it in a briefcase or backpack, because it is likely to leak onto your stuff. I havent actually tried this, though (and I don't plan to), so I could be wrong. Although it isn't spill proof if you hold it upside down or on its side, it is spill proof while you drink. THe rim of the lid is much higher than the base of the lid, so it prevents coffee from spilling all over you while you're sipping it (unless you're an extraordinarily untalented drinker). When you flip the top open, you do need to hold it open or it might flip down onto your nose - this happened to me and I wound up having to wipe drops of coffee off my nose.

It's super easy to clean - just like any other tumbler.

so, overall, I would completely recommend this to anybody who needs a travel tumbler that does keep coffee the perfect temperature. If you need something leak-proof, however, because you plan on putting it into your brief case or something, I would recommend getting a different Nissan thermos.

Excellent Tumbler for Persons on the Go!

I received this tumbler for my birthday, and it is one of the best presents I have ever been given. I have a couple of the larger, wide-bottomed Thermos mugs, but they are only practical at home or at the office. They simply don't fit into the cup holder of a car.

This tumbler holds a generous amount of hot coffee, and keeps it hot for hours. The swinging, snap lid is easy to open and close. It will snap to a fixed, open position as well as to a closed position.

With this tumbler, I can leave the house early in the morning with a full container of coffee, sipping from it as I drive my son to school. I can continue sipping on the way to the gym and back. If I have any coffee left, I then take it to the office with me. The portability is simply GREAT.

Although I use this tumbler exclusively for hot coffee, it will work well with any hot or cold beverage. It's my favorite Thermos product so far, and is definitely well-worth the price!

Almost Perfect

I have lived with this mug for months, now, and I love it. It fits into my car drink holder (which many mugs do not), and I like the lock back device which keeps the drinking hole cover out of your way (I have a beard). The tapered shape and nobby rubber grip feels comfortable and secure in the hand. The cap isn't leak proof, but it screws on tightly enough to prevent spills unless you knock it over, at which point liquid can seep out of the drinking hole.

It really does what it's supposed to do, which is keep my coffee hot. This is especially true if you follow the instructions and rinse the mug with hot water prior to putting the coffee in. It stays hot enough for me much longer than it takes me to drink 18 ounces, although I do not like my coffee scalding hot.

I find that I use this at work and home for a desk mug, as well as using it as a travel mug, as it is easy to carry around, and it has its own rubber coaster on the bottom. It holds a LOT of liquid.

Two minor negatives: You can't microwave it (but you wouldn't need to, would you, unless the coffee was already cold in the pot?), and you can't put it in the dishwasher. I usually rinse it with hot water daily, and give it a hand wash in the sink when it needs it. Note that the outside is stainless, but the inside will stain. I truly recommend this product.

The BEST insulated travel tumbler

I have owned this item for over 6 years now, and it still works as well as the day I bought it. I use it almost every morning to keep my coffee or tea hot, and in the afternoon to keep my water cold. Under both conditions it insulates for hours, eliminating the need to 'chug' your coffee while it's still warm (I hate cold coffee!). I recommend this for anyone looking for the best insulated travel mug around!
We love it, just bought another

Bought one for my spouse. She drinks a lot of tea and she likes it at a certain temperature. She often makes a large mug but then she wears a path back and forth to the microwave keeping the tea hot. She's only been using this Nissan tumbler for a few days, and she loves it. It has changed her whole work patterns and tea drinking experience. Now she can make a large tumbler of tea, enjoy it through the day, and not have to keep running back to the kitchen to heat it up. The one possible down side is the tumbler work too well. If you pour boiling water into the tumbler to make tea, it will TOO hot to drink for a long time. For coffee it would probably be fine, but for tea you need to let the tea cool down before you cap the tumbler. She loves this tumbler, and I just ordered myself one.

Psoriasis Remedy

Psoriasis is one of the most chronic skin diseases known to man, but it is not contagious. It is caused by an abnormal activity of the T cells. These T cells migrate to the dermis (of the skin) and stimulate the release of cytokines which then lead to inflammation and rapid production of the skin cells. The fast turnover of skin cells causes thick skin to pile up and form scaly patches. Psoriasis can be an emotionally debilitating disease as the symptoms can lead to social embarrassment and feeling self-conscious about ones’ self. To make matters worse, you never know when you may have a bad break out or where exactly the breakout will be. Psoriasis is more than dry skin. There are different types including pustular, nail and guttate. Psoriasis remedies that may work for some people don’t work for others so give you time to refine your treatment applications and don’t give up.

Some of the psoriasis remedies that are popular include coal tar, salicylic acid and dithranol. Salicylic acid is used in some acne preparations and assists the skin in peeling and healing. There are some strong prescription medications that your physician may recommend for severe psoriasis but due to side effects this must be carefully considered. Aloe vera is a popular plant that has been used to treat a variety of skin conditions for years. According to a study conducted by the Tropical Medicine and International Health in 1996, many patients using a hydrophilic cream containing 0. 5% aloe vera extract experienced moderate to excellent results in clearing up lesions.

Applying garlic oil to a dry, affected patch of skin before going to bed can help reduce the itching, while moisturizing the skin at the same time. Apple cider vinegar has a history of being used to help ease burns and calm skin inflammations. The liquid form can be used to dip in infected fingernails or toenails. Oils can be great for the skin. Try warming up some olive oil and massaging it into the scalp, if that is the type of psoriasis you have, leave it in for a minute or so and then shampoo as usual.

For mild to moderate cases of psoriasis, topical creams and ointments can be very effective at treating the symptoms of psoriasis. For more severe cases of psoriasis, systemic treatments may be used in addition to topical treatments. Psoriasis causes skin to be easily aggravated by irritating substances. Be careful when using products such as hair dyes, perms, and hair straighteners. These products should ONLY be used when skin is almost free of lesions, and NEVER when open wounds are present. Diet is also quiet important. You will have to make sure that you do not take lots of oily food. You should keep it in your mind that the oily foods are the most important reasons for the grain. The psoriasis is also possible to occur if you will eat more oily foods. It all starts as a simple grain and then spread into the major disease.

Psoriasis is not at all contagious although it might look like it may be. A few people may end up with mild forms of the condition which might result in petite patches of the red scales. The others get plagued with psoriasis. It covers large portions of the body with thick scales. A few people might even have psoriasis in the nails.
